Short week!

Hello everyone!

Sorry I don’t feel like I have a ton to say this week… it was a really short one because of the late pday!

Wednesday: We had a belváros adventure and showed our elders all around the downtown of the beautiful Szeged! It was a lot of fun going inside the cool churches and things 🙂 Still can’t believe I am lucky enough to live here!!

Thursday: District meeting! We talked about some creative finding ideas and planned a Christmas caroling activity that we are going to propose to the branch! So that should be really fun. But then during district lunch the elders made me laugh so hard that I spit a mouthful of water ALL over my lap. TWICE. Embarassing. Also I’m probably the least professional missionary to walk the planet but its fine. Don’t hate me cuz you ain’t me. Then we got to visit the kids, Márk, Klaudia, Izabella, and Döme. We read from the children’s Mormon Könyve. And we got to visit Piroska one last time too before we hand her over to the elders. Sad sad. Angol óra and the rest of the usual things.

Friday: We got to go out to Hódmezővásárhely to visit an LA , Irén. I love this woman. She was so kind and fun to chat with. We shared our favorite scriptures 🙂

Saturday: We were planning on going to Budapest for stake conference, and then we got news super last minute that we weren’t allowed to go anymore. So we had a full open day of finding! Which was actually more fun than I thought it would be. We got on the wrong bus actually when we went to go tracting, and there was a lady bawling her eyes out in the back. I was being all dramatic and telling my comp that we could have gotten on the wrong bus to help this lady, and that we found our calling for the day. No one was helping her so we followed her off the bus and I stopped her and asked if she was okay. She perked up and told us she was upset because she couldn’t find anyone to buy these two handmade bracelets. Dang it you guys, I got scammed!!! I didn’t buy the bracelets but we were laughing pretty hard at ourselves afterwards! Then some YSAs from the branch randomly called and asked if we could head over to the branch house and give them a spiritual thought. That made my day!

Sunday: Church and all the normal things. A néni let us in while tracting (What is going on… this never happens but lately its been happening like CRAZY!) And she said she missed us so bad and she thought we forgot about her and all this stuff… We had no idea who she was. She kept saying things about “jehova istenem” which is like my God Jehovah, and I was really worried that she thought we were JW’s so I pulled out my AMK and asked her if she had a copy. She said she did but that she gave it to her sister and she wanted another one. Crisis avoided. Haha 🙂 Then she was so cute saying she couldn’t just take the book from us, that we needed some kind of payment. We wouldn’t accept any of her money or anything so she gave us little candies. She told us to pick one of each color from the jar. So stinking cute. Then she was worried that she didn’t want them to get dirty on the way home, and so she gave us little pieces of “tiszta papír” (clean paper) to carry them home in. I love these people.

Monday: PDAY!! I bought myself a birthday present. The cutest dress I have been eyeing forever. Now were going to get Indian food with the elders and were gonna play ghetto volleyball (ghetto because we don’t have a net so we are going to make some sort of weird net-like contraption from ropes and trash bags haha)

All in all pretty good week! Starting to get really cold and the people seem to get a little colder with the weather… but I think I will handle this winter better than the last one because I am really used to being a missionary now. And I know how to deal with sadness better and I honestly haven’t felt homesick in months! That’s quite the accomplishment I think. Of course I love you guys and home and everything…like more than I thought was possible. BUT I am really feeling like Hungary is my home now. I feel like I’ve found a little life here that I’m not even close to ready to be leaving. SO even though it is dark by 3 pm now and we are freezing our little booties off, and people are saying mean things to us…all is well and I truly love my little missionary life here. I hope you can all find a purpose where you’re at too! Helps us to stay focused on what’s important and feel God’s love in our lives. And I am a really big fan of being happy 🙂

sok SOK szeretettel,

Mason Nővér
