Dreams Really Do Come True!

Hello hello everyone that still reads these!! haha

I hope you all had a beautiful first week of September!!!! Can you even believe it is already September?? Can you even believe that in four days I will hit my HALFWAY mark!?!? I sure can’t. I don’t really want to think about that! I am finally hitting the stage where I just LOVE my mission. I never want to leave. I DON’T WANT IT TO BE HALFWAY DONE!! I love Magyarország!!! (That’s how they say Hungary…where did we even get the name Hungary from??? haha that’s been my question ever since I got here…) But it’s okay, I still have nine more months to share this beautiful message and I fully intend on using every second of it the best that I can.

So for this week:

Tuesday: We went to go visit Piraoska again (Jozsef’s friend). It went so well!! We were reading the introduction to the Book of Mormon and we hit the part where it says that we invite all men everywhere to read and ponder the message of this book, and then to ask God in the name of Jesus Christ if it is true. And Piroska just pauses and looks at us and very sincerely says, “Well, of course it is true!!” Golden. Sheeven told us that she was sharing the BoM with her neighbors and one of teh nénis started saying ad stuff about our church, but Piroska just told her that she knows it’s true and that she can’t say bad things if she has never read the book. Isn’t that the truth????? haha I wish everyone realized that.

Wednesday: So we are just eating lunch in the apartment when we get a call from Howell Elder, telling us that we get to move into a new apartment!! WHAT!?! Dreams really do come true!! You guys. The new apartment is literally a palace and the water doesn’t hurt us when we shower and it doesn’t stink and we actually have a shower!! And there are no cockroaches eating our food!! haha we roughed it for sure for the last 6 weeks but finally we are in a nicer place. WE ARE HAPPY!! Too many good things though are happening and I’m scared that means something really not good will happen soon. I guess we will just worry about it when the time comes and live it up while we can haha! Then we got to meet with Silvi, and investigator from about 10 years ago. The elders found her in their area book so they called her and she came to angol óra (english class). She lives in our proselyting area though so we get to meet with her! She is SO NICE. She made us delicious strawberry tea and magical nektarines. She gave us házi tojás and paprika por to take home!!!! (homemade paprika powder and eggs!) I realized I haven’t told you guys about the food here a lot because I cant really eat a lot of it. HUNGARIAN FOOD is to die for. It is so good and their paprika powder here is literally heaven!!!!! We put so much of it in everything that we cook and I’m bringing a ton of it home because I don’t think I know how to live without it hahaha!

Thursday: September 1st and I had a miniature mental breakdown about how fast the times goes when you don’t want it to. But feeling so blessed. We got to meet with Melinda (We have a goal of getting her on bad date this week! We had some setbacks last week but all is well 🙂 ) Then Angol óra and I just love the people that come so much. I learn so much Hungarian from them and it is great.

Friday: Good day of tracting and that’s it haha!

Saturday: We went to the piac!! (basically the hugest and coolest and most delicious farmers market you have ever seen) I’m gonna miss the piac so bad in America. There’s nothing like it. Then we did some weekly planning and tracting. And then we got to meet up with my favorite JUDIT from Szolnok!!!! She just moved here this week to attend the university here in Szeged. And I am so happy about it. We met her in the belváros (like down town I guess is the translation for that) and walked with her to the branch house to watch the cultural celebration for the Freiberg temple rededication. There were Hungarians, Germans, Czechs, Poles, Romanians, Slovakians, and Austrians there and it was so amazing!! I felt the spirit so strong watching them all celebrate the rededication with cultural songs and dances and I just was tearing up with gratitude for temples and the blessing we receive from them. It amazes me how strong these members are, with how far away the temple is from them. It breaks my heart hearing members talk about how badly they want to go to the temple, but can’t afford it because it is so far away. I will never take the temple for granted ever again. We have the magnificent blessing of temple work just so close to our homes and we should be taking advantage of that!!

Sunday: The best day ever because we got to go to Budapest to watch the rededication! It was so beautiful!!!!! and the spirit was so strong. And I got to see all of my Szolnok people!!!!! I just cried and hugged them because I LOVE THOSE PEOPLE. They have the hugest place in my heart. It is the tiniest little branch with the strongest members and they have changed my life so much for the better. They are the best examples to me!! I also got to see Hughes and Miller Elderek and Gertsch Nővér! My MTC best friends!!!!! Joyous reunion. The rededication was so beautiful and you all just need to go to the temple right now okay!?

Randoms:

Today we walked home from Spar (the grocery store) in the pouring rain and my companions paper bag ripped and her groceries flew all over the sidewalk and all these nénis were just laughing at us and we were so pitiful. We were laughing so hard though because if we didn’t we would’ve cried! That’s one thing I recently realized that I have learned from this mission. Laughing is so much more fun than crying! And we are learning to laugh at everything!!

dscn3558Well that’s about it for this week! I hope you all have the chance to go utilize the nearest temple sometime soon because I have just been so grateful for temples this week. If you don’t think you have time, make time! You will be so blessed and there really is no better place you could be.

Have the best week!! Nagyon szeretlek titeket!

Sok szeretettel,

Mason Nővér
