Mixed emotions about halfway!

Hello, hello there everyone!

Hope everyone had the best week! I woke up Friday morning, looked at my little calendar clock, saw it was September 9, and had a mini heart attack. My half way mark!! I used to think that day would never come, and now I wish it never did. But just like all days, September 9 came and left and now I am on the downhill. I got excited when I thought about being on the downhill to squeezing my family, but when I realized that meant leaving my Hungarian home I got really upset and decided to never think about it ever again. So there are some of my mixed emotions for the week 🙂

Tuesday: We got to meet with Dalma, Melinda and Piroska! All of my faves 🙂 They were all doing really well and not too much changed. We talked about finding happiness in ordinary things, when Christ walked on the water, and the Plan of Salvation. Some very uplifting topics and I was feeling pretty good.

Wednesday: Made some tasty paprikás csirke (my favorite Hungarian meal!) and went to meet the kids (Márk and Klaudia) they are 12 and 8 and recently were baptized. So we get to go over there once a week and read from the Book of Mormon with them!

Thursday: District meeting woot woot! Then we got to meet with József. We talked more about the apostasy and Joseph Smith. He is slowly but surely progressing which is so exciting! Then my favorite, angol óra! The cutest nénis come and always make me so happy.

Friday: We got to go and visit Melinda, and it was actually the best. She accepted a baptismal date!!!! We are working on quitting smoking by October 8 so she can be baptized on that date. It is not going to be easy, but I know that with God ALL things are possible and I could not be more excited for her and her decision to follow Christ’s perfect example to us. She was crying because she said she was so happy we finally asked her, and we were crying because the spirit was just really strong. Happiness happiness everywhere!

Saturday: We planned out our week and then got to go visit Piroska again. We talked more about the Plan of Salvation and she just understands and accepts everything too easily! We are excited for her. She promised to come to church with us next week, so we will see 🙂 Then we went streeting by the Tisza river and people watched and laughed and had fun. Missionary work without fun…is just no fun haha so gotta keep it exciting sometimes!

Sunday: Church and so many meetings and really that was it haha!

Randoms:

So there are all of these anti-immigration posters everywhere. They are huge and blue and yellow and they all say “Tudta? blah blah blah” and that means “Did you know?” and then there weird bad facts about immigration. They were starting to really bother Vielstich NÅ‘vér and I, and then this week we started seeing littler posters some angsty teens made to make fun of the stupid anti-immigration posters! Oh dear Hungary I love this place with all of my heart. They say things like “Did you know? Last year in Mongolia alone, 4 people died because of banana peels?” or “Did you know? If you dig a hole through the middle of the earth, you will not end up in Australia but drowned in the silent ocean?” and this sounds really dumb over email but we thought they were so funny. I love living in a college town!

We email at the university and there are students EVERYWHERE and I just feel like I’m at BYU and I feel like I’m in the twilight zone haha!

There was a member from the Czech Republic at church, and he only speaks English and Czech so all the members were speaking English to him! It was SO WEIRD!!!!!!!!! I had no idea these people spoke so much English. I wish they would do that all the time because I understood everything! But I know I need to learn Hungarian somehow. Then I had a little moment where I was really scared to go back to church in English! It will be SO WEIRD to understand everything and be able to really socialize with people! I’m not even close to ready for that.

Sorry I feel like this week sounds really boring. It kind of was, but some weeks just are! Also I feel like I just write the same things in all my emails so thank you to the people that still actually read them haha!

I hope you all are taking the time to read from your scriptures every single day. The Lord works by small and simple things, and it is so so so important that we are building our relationship with Him every day of our lives!

Sok szeretettel,

Mason Nővér
