This week:

Tuesday: We made Elder Haws a carrot cake for his birthday because he is a health freak and always eats carrots so we thought it would be funny. And he loved it! We also got to meet with Melinda and go into more depth about the Word of Wisdom and she is so ready to stop smoking. She is working so hard at it and I know she is truly getting some divine help!

Wednesday: We went to do a look up of an old investigator. (Basically when you only have their address so you knock on their door and see if they want to meet again.) They were actually home and interested! That has never happened before so we were so excited. Their daughter actually had a baptismal date a few years ago but then for some reason stopped meeting with the missionaries. We get to go back on Wednesday 🙂 Then we just decided to stay and tract the whole building while we were already inside. The next person that answered was interested too!! What!? Her name is Lilla and she is SO CUTE!! She’s probably like in her 20s and she was practically begging us to come back on Wednesday because she was busy doing a school project. So we were really excited about that, too! We got to meet with the kids and read from A Mormon Könyve together which is just my favorite. They are so young but have such a large knowledge and love for this gospel! They are such good examples to the rest of their family. Then we went to meet with another old investigator who we found in the area book. He is an athiest and when we got there he told us that he really isn’t interested, but he let us share a message anyways and he also fed us the weirdest and most delicious grapes I have ever had. The produce in this country is unreal.dscn3780

Thursday: We got to meet with András, and we showed him our family pictures and talked about the importance of families. There was a picture of me hugging my dad and another of me hugging Chase goodbye at the MTC in my little photo album, and when I flipped to that page my stomach kind of dropped…haha gotta make sure to take those out for the next time I show them to someone. It was a little rough 😉 but a great lesson! Then angol óra and two new people came this week! They found the church online and decided to show up for English class. We are going to talk to them this week and see if they want to meet with us separately to talk about the gospel 🙂

Friday: We had two lessons cancel, which is always a bummer. But the cutest member, Kitti, came with us to go see Melinda. They are cute friends now! And the lesson was great. it was about how the not smoking was going and how we could help her out more. then we went streeting along the Tisza river and found the coolest playground and laughed and felt happy

Saturday: We went to see Dalma which was great! We read the poem about the footprints in the sand (one of my favorites!) and the spirit was so strong. She needs to get married so she can be baptized. Working on planning the wedding now 🙂

Sunday: Church and meetings and a typical Sunday. Melinda came to church with us again, and we got to show her the baptismal font! She freaked out and was so excited, so that was really cute!! And she had so many questions about how her baptism will go and what to wear and all that good stuff so we were so happy. She also got a blessing to help her leszokni from the dohány and she said she felt the spirit so strong! (ummm in English I don’t know how to say it. Become unaddicted? to cigarettes? I don’t know something like that…)

Randoms:

This week I used the microwave to make some popcorn, and then when I tried to melt some butter for it, the microwave wouldn’t work!! I think I have a microwave curse haha! So I sat there for a second really sad I couldn’t just call my dad and ask him how to fix it! Then I was like… well what would dad tell me to do? And so I did what I thought he would tell me to do… and I FIXED IT!!! Oh dad you would have been so proud. Becoming really self reliant hahaha!

We found CILANTRO this week. I LITERALLY CRIED. I’ve been looking for it every single week at the grocery store since I got here, and we found it at this tiny market!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ya so I was really happy for a solid like 6 hours haha!

So this week at Dalmas, we were talking about when we feel like Jézus Krisztus has picked us up and carried us in our lives. I hardly ever say anything about my health problems or how hard a mission is to any members of investigators here. (I know I talk about it a lot in my emails, and sometimes I feel bad about that actually. But I think it is just too easy to be real and not sugar coat anything when I am just typing into a computer screen, you know? So I’m sorry if it comes across as negativity or sadness! It’s not I promise 🙂 ) But in our lesson, my companion turned to me and asked for me to share a time where I feel like Krisztus has carried me through a trial. All that would come to my mind is how close to Him I feel here on my mission. I just felt like I needed to share with her about my health problems and how hard the language is for me and everything. I have never really cried like that in a lesson before, but I just started to really cry when I bore my testimony to her that the only reason I am still here is because of my Savior. Without Him, I could not do any of this and I would not be who I am today! I am so grateful for the Atonement and for the strength that it gives me. I am so thankful for prayer, and the opportunity that it gives us to create a personal relationship with God and with our Savior. I have truly seen and felt and lived the blessings that come from living a life in harmony with the Savior’s teaching and from accepting His will. In that lesson I just really felt how real He is, and how much He loves every single one of His children.

I think that we should all work on creating that strong personal relationship with our Savior. It makes the bad times easier and the good times sweeter. I challenge you all to think of some way that you can strengthen that relationship, and then do it this week! I know you will be so blessed, just like I have been 🙂

I hope you all have the best week!

xoxo,

Mason Nővér
