Another week in little old Szolnok

It’s pretty much just the same old same old here in Szolnok… But it was a great week nonetheless!

Monday: After emailing I decided to try and cook my favorite chicken tacos and lime cilantro rice!! They turned out pretty good…except for the fact that Cilantro apparently doesn’t exist here so we used Parsley instead…Not the best flavor but it curbed the craving I guess 😉

Tuesday: We went streeting along the Tisza (the river here in Szolnok) because it was the most beautiful weather!! I love that spring is coming. And Sister Withers showed me the creepiest abandoned hospital! So I didn’t like that place very much. Also it was Women’s day! And József gave us chocolate bars at our lesson and we felt very loved.DSCN0988DSCN0981DSCN1034

Wednesday: We found the cutest családi neighborhood to tract (like houses instead of csengőing (or ringing) outside of apartments) and I was so happy!! The weather was great and there was green grass and flowers springing up everywhere and cute colorful houses.DSCN0984DSCN0986

Thursday: We had a wonderful lesson with Polett. MY FAVE! And then she took us to the cutest cukorházda (im pretty sure that how it is spelled haha!) That is like a little sweet treat store. It was a cute pink building with the cutest european sweets and treats. Happy place! Also we cleaned the house really well so we bought ourselves the cutest little yellow daisy! It really brightened up the place 🙂DSCN0998

Friday: ZONE CONFERENCE!! Best day trip to Budapest. I loved seeing other missionaries!! We had the most uplifting zone conference and I felt so refreshed and ready to go afterwards. We talked a lot about our Savior and how we can truly lean on Him ALWAYS because if we truly turn to him, he will grab us in the tightest embrace and never let us go. I have truly felt that strength this week as I have given Him my whole heart. Also on Friday we went to the Doctors office for sister Withers’ foot. I seriously felt like we were in America again and that was the weirdest feeling!! Everyone in there was speaking english and it was so nice inside!! She has to wear a boot which has slowed us down a little bit, but I am a big believer in taking things slowly so it hasn’t really been a problem for me!! And we didn’t get lost this time on the way home!!DSCN1013

Saturday: We really felt like we should try to visit a member from the branch, Béa. So we called her up and set up with her. In our lesson, she started to cry and told us we answered her prayers for someone to come and lift her up and giver her strength. So that was a huge testimony builder for me!!

Sunday: We had some lessons dog us, so we had a nice and peaceful Sunday which was so needed! We got to go to Sándors house. Let me just tell you…we ADORE this guy. His daughter, Judit is a convert and she is 18 years old. She speaks English and helps me out a lot with Hungarian. She always shows me so much love and I am truly so grateful for her and her friendship! I know we will be friends for a long time. We set April 30 as Sándors baptism date and he said he knows that he will be ready by then! We are so so so excited for him. It really is the coolest thing to get a front row seat to people’s conversions.

Monday: A long day because we didn’t get pday, but it was still great! I felt like we really connected with our new investigator, Gyöngyi, which was so great. She’s the one that randomly showed up to church last Sunday! And also because Tuesday was a Hungarian holiday there were cute booths all around the little town square with a train ride and fresh chimney cakes (seriously my FAVE!!!) and lots of other fun things.DSCN1021DSCN1023DSCN1025DSCN1044DSCN1045

Tuesday: The national Holiday but it was POURING rain all day and everyone was out of town so finding people was not very successful. But we still had a few great lessons and it was a happy, happy day.

Random things:

I made friends with Elder Bunker (he served in Szolnok last transfer) and I found out that he makes the same weird pig noises as me in his sleep!!!! So that was very exciting hahaha!! We were both crying laughing so hard about that.

Missionary life… This is pretty gross but I have been getting horrible blisters that get bloody and it grosses me out!! But hey, I knew what I was signing up for, and I love it.

A man yelled at us in French saying that he didn’t understand us!! I freaked out and I was like WAIT!!! I SPEAK THAT LANGUAGE!!! But then I couldn’t remember how to speak it and a weird mix of French, Hungarian and English came out and I was sad, and that was that. Hopefully when I get back I will remember a little more.

We were streeting and I tried to stop a man, but he just yelled I DON’T SPEAK GERMAN and then ran away… then we were just like uhhh we don’t either…

Today we played tennis for a district pday activity!! It was sooo fun!! And I for sure am going to be a lot more into sports when I get home.

Well that is it for this week, but I hope you all have another great week!! In this Easter season I hope you have your thoughts turned to your Savior and what He did just for you. There is a beautiful video about it online at: https://www.mormon.org/easter/hallelujah

Sok szeretettel,
