Kellemes Húsvéti Ünnepeket!

Hello everyone and Happy Easter!!

This week was LONG but good. We had so many fun trips and activities and foods to try!

Tuesday: We had to start getting serious about getting all of our Easter pass along cards out. We were given sooo many. Probably everyone in the whole town of Szolnok has one now which is so good!! Also we went to McDonalds because when we were streeting we both randomly got a strong craving for fries. And we met the two coolest Americans there!! I heard someone ordering and they said “no onions” in an American accent and we freaked out!! They were so cool. The guy lives here and plays basketball on a big team in Szolnok and his girlfriend was just visiting. We loved them!! Definitely a heaven sent craving hahaha!!

Wednesday: A day in Budapest!! There were scary blacked out army men everywhere in the train and metro stations because of the Belgium attacks. The news of that really upset me this week. But I am so grateful for the knowledge of a loving Heavenly father and His plan for us here. Anyways, we got to spend the day at the mall and the doctors office. And…I got to go to GAP!!! Best day ever!! I think I actually cried a little bit. I LOVE THAT PLACE!! And then we got fagyi (like gelato) and they have some flavors that they make with rice milk!! So that was great and all was happy and right in the world.

Thursday: We were upset at first because two programs dogged us…but then it was the best day ever because…SÁNDOR OFFICIALLY GAVE UP COFFEE!!!! It has been the one thing holding him back from baptism for a while, and he told us that he was praying that morning for strength, and then he got up to drink his coffee, he took one sip, and then realized it was gross and threw the rest down the sink! Then he threw out all of his coffee stuff and switched over to chocolate milk!! Whatever works, am I right? We were so happy and just jumping up and down all day!!

Friday: We missionaries put on a branch Easter party, and it was a total success!! We painted Easter eggs, had an Easter egg hunt, read the Easter story from the Bible, we performed I Know That My Redeemer Lives (Tudom, hogy jó Megváltóm él), heard a few of the members testimonies of Christ and the Atonement and the Resurrection, and watched a Mormon Message by Elder Holland about Easter. The spirit was so strong and we really bonded as a branch!! I LOVE THESE PEOPLE!! I even talked to Polett all by myself for like over 30 minutes all in Hungarian!!!! I was so proud of myself and it was the best night.

Saturday: We had gyros for district lunch! There are lots of foods here that are different than in America. But they are delicious, so I don’t ask questions and just eat. Hahaha!! I’m becoming a new person, that is for sure!! Then we had choir practice, and then a missionary meeting at Gábor and Anitas house. They are two amazing members that are so involved with us missionaries!! Since it was Easter they fed us the infamous Hungarian PIG FAT JELLO!!!!! They have been around missionaries for so long though, and they know we think it is disgusting. So they just laughed and laughed and laughed as we were all trying it and screaming and gagging. I really was going to try it, but I almost threw up when I watched my companion eat it!! Sorry fam, maybe next time… or not. We will see I guess.

Sunday: The most beautiful Easter day!! Church was great and I felt so uplifted while keeping my thoughts on my Savior and what He did for me. Then we made some igazi magyar paprikás scirke!! (real Hungarian Paprika chicken) oh my it was SO GOOD!!!!!! Hungarian food man… and the Elders made a fruit soup which is to die for. I still don’t understand why these things haven’t made it to America. Family, that is what we are eating for Sunday dinner every week when I am home.

Monday: When pday is moved we call it Black Monday… and that explains that. But it was a ghost town here yesterday!! They close everything down real good on Easter Sunday and Monday and there was no one to be found!! No one was home when we tracted and NO ONE was on the streets. So it was a pretty boring day, but some random things happened too to brighten it up.

Randoms…

So the néni carts I wrote about last week… we found out what they are actually called. Banyatank which directly translates to… wait for it… witch tank!!! HAHAHAHAHA is that not the funniest thing you have ever heard?? I think it’s great. I now I need one even more.

Tracting yesterday, we rang a door of someone named Kovács József. Which, in English, is Joseph Smith. PERFECT!! He didn’t answer though and we were sad.

Also tracting yesterday we accidentally got someone’s doorbell stuck. Through the hole apartment complex you could hear it ringing!!!! It was horrible and we were laughing so hard and we had no idea what to do. So naturally we ran away. Good thing they weren’t home. And hopefully that is something that has happened to them before haha!!

For Easter the men spray women with perfume…we weren’t sprayed but we got close a couple of times!

I have really learned a lot about trusting in the Lord these last few months of my life. Trusting that He knows me better, and that He knows that what is ahead is better than what lies behind. I love that He loves me enough to give me trials and to help me to struggle through them, in order to help me to become a better person that He needs me to be. I love my Savior, and I love the peace that I am able to find through Him.

Have a great week and remember who you are!!

xoxo
