Transfers…one down, seven to go!

Hello everyone!!

So I have officially made it through my first transfer!! I’m not a greenie anymore!!!!!!! I am way excited about that, but freaking out a little bit because that means that I am actually expected to speak and know what is going on and stuff. So i will for sure learn a lot this transfer, and it will be so great!!

This week:

Tuesday: My momma (trainer) hit her 8 month mark, so we got two scoops of fagyi to look like an 8!! Sadly it didn’t really look like an 8, but it was delicious anyways.

Wednesday: Two of our lessons bailed out on us… but we got to go visit our favorite Sándor!! He is in the hospital for a few weeks just for some testing. I don’t actually understand what is wrong with him, but this is a normal thing that he has to do. Anyway, I was so afraid to go to the hospital here because i already don’t like hospitals in America where everything is in English and stuff…but it was great and I made it out alive!! Sándor is doing great and is progressing so much. He keeps telling us “I am waiting for my baptism! I love you sister!” He is the greatest and seeing a big smile like his makes EVERYTHING worth it.

Thursday: We had cleaning checks so we had the most BEAUTIFUL clean apartment and we were SO happy about it!! Then we had a lesson with the cutest Polett and she brought us little cherry smelling body lotions and perfumes as gifts because transfers were coming up. She is the sweetest! I love her with all of my heart!!

Friday: We got to go to Goatville (Kesckemét) again for end of the transfer INTERVIEWS!! It was the best because I finally got my mail and packages!! I was so so so happy when I saw how much mail I got and I felt SO loved!!!!!!! Interviews went so well! I love my Mission President and his wife SO much. They are the sweetest people ever! Also President Szabadkai told me he likes to read my blog sometimes… so here’s a shoutout! haha!!

Saturday: I hit my four month mark! GO ME!! I made it. I still feel like I just got here though and tomorrow there will already be another group fresh out of the MTC. Honestly I don’t know how I feel about that. We got to go to the Nemetéks house in Cibakháza and do a service project for them!! We dug up all their grass and planted a vegetable garden!! I am a real Hungarian farmer now. Haha! But for reals it was so fun and I felt very accomplished when I had huge blisters on my hands by the end of the day. They live about an hour bus ride out of the city in the tiniest little town. I freaked out when we got there. It literally looks like a fairy tale!! The whole time I just kept saying “I CANNOT wait to take my family here someday!!!!!!!!!!” and everyone was laughing and asking what made it so special. Hungary is just a magical place!!

Sunday: It was Fast Sunday and I decided to bear my testimony! It was the scariest thing I have ever done but I did it!! And I don’t think I messed up too horribly. So that was great and I felt very good about my language abilities! Then we visited Sándor again in the hospital and Sister Withers had to say goodbye to him since we were pretty sure she would be leaving this transfer. That was the saddest thing that I have ever witnessed! She loves this guy so much!! We are praying that she can come back for his baptism. Then we had a last district dinner. A palacsinta buli!! (crepe party) with sós and édes (savory and sweet) ones!! It was so fun and we felt very sentimental with our district family.

Monday: A member, Ircsi, and her family invited us over for dinner!! HOLY COW it was my first real feeding lesson and MY OH MY. Let me tell you, Hungarians do this whole food thing RIGHT!!!! We started out with noodle and veggie soup, and I ate a little too much because I didn’t realize more food would be coming afterwards. Then stuffed cabbage. and I was about ready to pop. THEN paprikas csirke…I WAS DEAD!!!!!! It was soooo good but I have honestly never been so full in my life. I felt disgusting but it was the most delicious thing that I have ever experienced in my whole life. Then came dessert…and I was dead. and then came our SECOND dessert. We were so spoiled and full and full of happiness. The elders were laughing at me so hard afterwards when I was freaking out about how good it was. I always feel like such a newbie all the time, hahaha its great.

Tuesday: PDAY/transfer call day!!!!!!! We went to play tennis again this morning after transfer calls. Oh my gosh transfer calls are crazy!!! So if you are going to be a leader or a trainer, President calls you. If you are just a normal missionary, then the APs call. We got a call form President at 8:00 am (right when calls start) and Sister Withers answered. I was freaking out with the Elders…we were like ahhh she’s going to Buda to be STL!! (sister training leader) but she has the hugest eyes and is pacing back and forth and we find out she is training AGAIN!! Which is unheard of. And she is whitewashing in Székesfehervár (when both missionaries are new in an area). All the missionaries were all freaking out and calling each other all morning. It was so fun!! I am staying in Szolnok and getting a new companion, Greenwood Nővér. I have heard GREAT things about her so I am very excited! She is only one transfer above me…the same age as my trainer was when I got here. So I will continue to learn and speak a lot!! It’s going to be the best. Both of our Elders are training too!! One is leaving to whitewash Eger and the other is staying here! So I won’t be the youngest in Szolnok anymore!!!! I am very excited about that. But so sad to see Withers Nővér and Haws Elder go. They are two of the coolest people that I have ever met!!

Randoms:

In the 22 story our ears pop in the elevator which makes us laugh a lot!!

Also in the 22 story there was a closet in the hallway and there were freaky noises coming from it…so we ran away.

I keep forgetting to write that on our branch house street there is also a prison! And when we walk down the street men yell at us from the windows. At first it freaked me out but now I just think that it is the funniest thing ever!

I made a new planner with the package and mail I got!!! It is so cute and it makes me so so so happy!!!

All in all, great week!! I have been so happy this week, and I am SO excited to see what this next transfer will bring. I am so grateful to be here as a missionary in Szolnok! It is the best place I could be!! Happy happy happy. Remember how much you are loved this week! Sorry I don’t have any crazy awesome spiritual insight, but just remember that you have a Father in Heaven that loves you MOST!

sok szeretettal,

Mason Nővér
