Transfers – 2 down, 6 to go!

Hello everyone!!

I cant believe its time for this again…this transfer went by so fast…but it’s transfer week!!! We got our transfer calls this morning. And tomorrow morning, I will be on my way Budapest to meet my new companion, Sister Vasitca (she’s from Serbia!! So cool right??) And we will be on our way to my new home…KAPOSVÁR!! I am beyond excited for this new adventure.

This week:

I forgot my notes so I’m having a really hard time remembering what even happened this week… so I guess I will write this a little differently than normal…and so sorry that this is going to be so messy and weird just like my brain feels right now!!!

This week we had interviews in Kecskemét. I love that city!! Also I really love my mission president. He is so in tune with the spirit and I can just feel so much love when I speak with him. My interview was great and… it was ALL in Hungarian!! Woot!!!! Apparently I’m getting somewhere with the language. I still have so much to learn. Hoping to feel a little more confident this transfer!!

We went out with Polett last pday to a really cute little city that her mom lives in. We had so much fun and went to a cukrászda and went out for dinner and saw the beautiful river!! Such a good fun day that made me really, really happy.

This week we met with Bogi again. THIS GIRL!! We love her. Thinking about me leaving and not going along with her on her conversion anymore makes me extremely sad. I made Greenwood promise to take care of her!!

We also had cleaning checks this week…and we passed! Who doesn’t love a good clean apartment???

This week was Elder appreciation week for our Elders! We heart attacked their doors, and every night either brought them a treat, or made them dinner, or did something nice for them. Don’t worry missionary moms!! your little boys are being taken care of all over the world by sister missionaries. We heard that elder Thomas’ favorite dinner is top ramen with kolbász (the fattiest sausage ever)… and we decided we needed to help him out a little hahaha!!!!!! We really do love and appreciate them so much!!

On Saturday night a member of the branch presidency called and asked if I would give my testimony in church the next morning. Of course I said yes…and I was pretty nervous. This language!!!! So hard. And then when I got to church they were going over the program and were like “Okay great, so Mason Nővér you will talk for 10-15 minutes…” and I was like WAIT WHAT? you said it was like a 2 minute deal!!! and freaked out. I ended up being able to talk for about 10 minutes!! That was including a lot of crying though…I really thought it wouldn’t be possible for me to cry while speaking Hungarian because I am concentrating so hard on what I need to say… but of course the waterfall came and I was a mess. I was just looking out at all the faces I have grown to love SO MUCH!!! and I got really sad thinking about leaving them all. But I did it 🙂

Also this week we had a last district meeting where we each gave a 10 minute talk about anything we wanted! I spoke on humility and realized how much I need to develop that myself – haha!

Also we went to Ircsi’s for dinner again and had töltött csirke! (stuffed chicken). So good! Love love love her! and we went to Erika’s too! rakott krumpli! I could eat only Hungarian food for the rest of my life and be completely happy….

Randoms:

I got to meet my grandma!!!! (my trainer’s trainer) She was visiting Hungary this week with her parents. She is the nicest thing ever and made me so happy!!!!!

We found lots of cherry trees while tracting…and of course we stole some. Happy happy happy! Hungarian cherries are SO GOOD.

I was getting on the bus this week and smacked my head really hard on this huge metal bar that was over my seat…I had a headache for a day and my pride was a little bruised as the entire bus laughed at me haha!

They have these things we call donut peaches here. They are peaches that are like squished down and they look almost like a ring. I forgot to take a pic but they are literally HEAVEN!!!!!!!! The fruit here…that’s what I will live off of this summer.

This week as we were driving through a falu I was looking out the window of the bus and couldn’t help but just tear up thinking about how much I love his place. It was really hard at first… but I have come to love this place and these people more than I have ever loved anything besides my own family. This is a blessed place that just really needs love. A lot of love. That is a huge thing I have learned here – how to love unkind people, and how to love seemingly unloveable situations. I have been able to share the love that God has for these people and that is something that I wouldn’t trade for the whole wide world. I am honestly really, really upset about leaving Szolnok and all of the wonderful branch members and investigators and missionaries here…I really love them with more than my whole heart!!!! But I know that Kaposvár has so many more amazing experiences just like the ones that Szolnok had for me. I cant wait to get out there and keep learning and growing and loving other people. For now, Szolnok has a HUGE piece of my heart and I think its okay to leave it here 🙂

sok szeretettel,

Mason Nővér
