Transfers, 3 down…5 to go!

HELLO!

This week was a really, really good one. Work picked up a little bit and I just love my companion so much. So I’m really happy to tell you that we will be staying together for this next transfer!! WOOHOO!!!! We are going to tear this city apart. And we are so excited about it. This also means I will most likely be staying in Szeged until Christmas time!! Double woot woot!! Living the dream. Seriously.

This week:

Tuesday: We were in a little city called Hódmezővásárhely and we were lost and looking at a map and a nice lady stopped and asked if we needed help. Then she looked at my tag and said WOAH!!!!!!!!!! I’m a member of that church!!! And we were like wait what the???? And she explained that when they shut down the branch in that city she didn’t have time to travel into Szeged for church. So we are planning on visiting her this week. That was a csoda!

Wednesday: A huge thunderstorm came out of nowhere so that was the best. We made some crepes and stir fry and spent the night with the windows open and lots of crazy loud thunder. Storms here are unlike anything I’ve experienced.

Thursday: Nothing haha except rainy tracting.DSCN3249

Friday: We were supposed to spend the day in Budapest for my dr appointment but we accidentally missed the train…. so we had to come up with stuff to do all day! woohoo.

Saturday: Holy cow. The elders called us saying they set up with someone named Melinda, but they couldn’t make it to visit her so they asked us to. We were nervous because we didn’t know anything about her, so we prepared a spiritual thought and knocked on her door. THIS GIRL. She is 32 and has been recently diagnosed with some mental health issues. She basically is in the darkest place she can be right now, and just looking into her sad eyes made me tear up. We had the most powerful lesson I have ever had the privilege of teaching!! By the end of the discussion about our Savior and brother, Jesus Christ, this woman had COMPLETELY changed. It was amazing. She was crying us and hugging us and asking if we loved her as much as we had told her that God does. I wish I had more time to express my feelings about this woman…but holy cow. I KNOW this gospel can change lives. It does change lives, every day. I just wish with all of my heart that others would just open their ears to this message of pure joy!! They don’t know what they are missing out on. This gospel and our Savior have the power to open hearts, repair relationships, mend hearts, change lives, and to bring JOY. REAL JOY.

Sunday: Our American friend John came to church and it was so cool!!! We met him in angol ora (english class) and now he helps us teach. He doesn’t know any Hungarian so we have been helping him around a lot.DSCN3226

Monday: Haha everyone calls the Monday before transfers Black Monday… because pre-transfer stress + not pday = blackness hahaha

Randoms:

I almost DIED this week. No I am not even being dramatic. I was making popcorn in a glass bowl, and when it was done I opened the microwave. As I did so, the big glass bowl inside EXPLODED and I screamed at the top of my lungs and my companion came running in! Luckily I had opened the microwave as I was stepping out of the pantry so only my foot got sliced by a giant chunk of glass but it could have been really, really, really bad. Our apartment is now attacking us hahaha! It’s a sign we should move I think. Also the broken glass melted our floor and refrigerator that it landed on…

There are random baby head stickers on a ton of the street signs here haha!

We found the oldest street in Szeged! It is called Szentháromság Utce or the Holy Trinity Street.

So Szeged is famous for having a weird southern accent and I finally starting noticing it this week! I really hope I don’t start talking like they do – haha it’s a little strange. Their e’s are super weird and sound like completely different words when they say them.

So yes this week was a really good one. We are so happy. I know if you read my emails you probably already know a lot about my beliefs, but please if you have any questions don’t hesitate to ask, or to head over to mormon.org! You can get all of your questions answered and even request to have some missionaries (they’re not scary, they are just like me!!) come and visit you and bring a Book of Mormon. Like I said before, you don’t know what joy you are missing out on. I love this gospel and I love how it makes me feel. I am always enough because I have my Savior on my side. I love Him and I know that He loves me. And all of you too.

Sok Szeretettel,

Mason Nővér
