Getting Lost?

Családom! Barátaim!

Hey hey hey!! I hope that everyone had a great week and that America is doing well.

We had a lot of random things happened to us this week so sorry again if I am all over the place as always. Here we go…

Tuesday: We went to Babi nénis house!! (néni means old lady and we actually call them that in front of their face. So funny!!) And she was feeding us so much food. But I couldn’t eat like any of it because of my stomach problems, so every time she would turn around Withers Nővér and the elders would eat it off my plate really quick. And then she would say “Oh my someone is hungry!! Lets get you some more!!!” And it was just a hilarious cycle of that over and over again. So funny.

Wednesday: We got to go to Budapest again for Greenie training!! It was soooo good to see all of my MTC district again and to talk to them all about their areas and stuff. Love them all so much. I am so blessed!!

We met up with Gertsch nőver at Starbucks before hand and I felt like a normal person and life was beautiful!! Haha!!

Greenie training was the best day. We all felt SO motivated to be the best missionaries. Now everyday I ask myself, “Am I acting like the missionary that my parents think I would be??” And then I try so hard to be better and to please them and the Lord. We went to Gringos Amigos again, and then we got on the train to go home. After like an hour of being on the train we were waiting for our stop, Szolnok, to come. But it never did!!! And we found ourselves in the tiniest city two and a half HOURS outside Szolnok!! So… We had to find our way back and it was late and dark and WE DON’T SPEAK HUNGARIAN!!! Pros of having a baby as a trainer!! Haha we have a blast though and it is just the best!! Quite the adventure Wednesday night!!

Thursday: We met the cutest old man while tracting. I love all the old people here!! They have so many stories for us and they always want to tell us all the history of Hungary and it is just the best. Love Hungarians with all my heart.

Friday: District meeting! Which is always fun. And then we met with Polett again and went to go get more of the awesome hot chocolate after. She is one of my most favorite people that I think I have ever met. She is so kind and loving!!! I got Macadamia white chocolate stuff and it was so good. And then Polett accidentally spilled hers all over her lap!! I felt so bad because it was so hot!! and delicious 🙁 She was so embarrassed but we are so used to be stared at everywhere we go that it was no big deal. Anyways…love her so so so much!!!!!!! Crazy to be able to feel love like this for people I hardly even know.

Saturday: We met with a Less Active, Ildiko. At first our lessons with her felt kind of forced and awkward, but lately we have really started connecting with her. Again, it is so weird that I can feel so much love for these people that I don’t know…especially when I cant talk to them or understand them either. Then we went to the Hivatal… don’t know what that is in English but I think it’s like the immigration office or something. The people there made us cry and they were soooo rude! And we couldn’t understand them and I got really down on myself. But you know what, there are mean people everywhere! And I’m glad they were getting mad at me in Hungarian so at least I didn’t understand and take it too personally. Haha!!

Sunday: Church, choir, meetings.. typical Sunday as a missionary!! A random lady came into church and bore her testimony and said she wanted to meet with the missionaries. It was a little strange but we are always excited to meet with knew people. The elders came with us too and when we sit down she starts pulling out all the legal papers and pictures of a house. Of course I don’t understand one word that she is saying… and I am just so confused because all I can talk about is Joseph Smith!! hahaha!! We quickly ended the meeting and the other missionaries explained to me that she wants money and she needs to like talk to the American government for something and she wanted our help. We were just like oh uhhh sorry lady we cant help you there…but we sure can tell you Who you are, where you came from, why you’re here, and where you are going!! Missionary life. Then we got to meet with my other favorites, Lili and Sándor. So great!!

Beloved Monday: We went to the Piac, a super cool outdoor farmers market thing with delicious fruit and veggies!! My favorite here and the kiwis that come in the cutest little boxes, oranges, apples, and pears. SO GOOD! And I eat them for every meal. Happy tummy, and happy Sister Mason. Our favorite place to grocery shop is Auchan!! It is a big store and it is technically French. but the have a great foreign section with peanut butter and Mexican stuff too!!!

Random things…

In 2 days I will hit my 3 month mark. That is halfway to 6!! What the what?? Sometimes I feel like I have been here for like only a week. To be 100% honest though, I feel more like it has been years. Loving it though!! I get sad when I think about only being here for 15 more months…

Not sure if I should say this as a missionary but I think that it is hilarious so mom edit this out if you think it is necessary. The walls in our apartment are paper thin!! We can hear people going to the bathroom all night and I think it is the grossest, funniest, weirdest thing!!!!! And we can hear people sneezing and coughing and blowing their nose all the time too. Fun fact: In Hungary it is really rude to sniffle, and it is completely polite to blow your nose obnoxiously loud in public. If people hear you sniffle they will give you a tissue. That has taken some getting used to!!

OK funny story. We were tracting and this lady had a legit jungle outside of her apartment. She slammed the door on us and I really wanted a pic of her plants, so I tried to sneak a quick one on the way back down the stairs. But oopsies, my flash was on!! She swung the door back open and was screaming at us to not take pictures of her house and I almost peed my pants we were laughing so hard. She chased us down the stairs and said if we took any more pictures she would call the police. I am probably the worst missionary hahaha but I couldn’t resist.

We found a 20 story to tract and it was a partyyyy!! It was kinda scary inside and we found a closet with a big metal thing that said viper devilé. Sketch to the max but so fun.

I found banana flavored tic tacs!! and they have MINIONS printed on them!! I have no idea if those exist in America but I am OBSESSED.DSCN0960

This week was so good. I have been so much happier! I started this new thing where whenever I think about my family or missing them, I think about how grateful I am for the missionaries that taught my mom instead. I remember how grateful that I am for my FOREVER family, and that it is not just til death do us part. I imagine what my life would be like without the gospel and I remember why I am here and how badly I want to share the message of the restoration of Jesus Christ’s church with everyone that I come in contact with. Heavenly Father has blessed me immensely, and I feel so humbled to help others find the hand of God in thier lives.

I love you all and I hope you have a happy, sunshiney, perfect week!!

sok szeretettel,

Mason Nővér
