Greetings from…

Szeged!! (seh-ged)

Yup thats right, there was a little bit of an E transfer this week and I moved to Szeged on Wednesday morning! My dream!!! It is called “a napfény város” or “the sunshine city”! It is the hottest city in Hungary but I am so so so HAPPY to be here! I absolutely ADORE my new companion, Sister Vielstich. She is from Ogden, Utah and is honestly the sweetest human being on the Earth. We are having so much fun together. She loves to work hard and she is really good at the language. All is WELL!!

So this week…

Tuesday: Woke up, did some studies…then we got a call from President. He explained that Sister Koska (a Hungarian mini missionary serving here) was freaking out because of the cockroach problem in her apartment. He then explained that I would be moving to Szeged at 8 am the next morning and taking her place. WHAT!? Sister Vasica and I were really surprised and sad to be split apart but…the Lord knows where he needs his missionaries I guess. Leaving Kaposvár after 6 weeks was really hard for me. I fell in love with that city and the Petersons and the people so quickly, and I felt a little bit like I was just being ripped away from it all. But ilyen az élet I guess. So we spent all day packing and cleaning and all that good stuff.

Wednesday: The switch day! I was supposed to take a 5 hour bus ride all alone to meet my new comp in Szeged, but the Petersons are the kindest people and thought that it would be better for them to drive me! So they spent 8 hours in the car for me and I was so so so grateful. Dang I miss them already! Then we saw some good stuff in Szeged and got all unpacked and started a new adventure!! Sis Vielstich keeps joking that I should just live out of my suitcases. I’m her 3rd comp this transfer so we will see how long this lasts haha!!

Thursday: Woke up early and headed to Kispest for splits! My other favorite city! They just moved to a new apartment in the cutest yellow building with a courtyard. Living the dream. Also, I got to have a lesson with József. He was my very first lesson as a greenie in Szolnok! He moved to Budapest at the end of that transfer and found the sisters there. He has progressed so much and is preparing to set a baptismal date! I am so excited about that. I’m not a failure of a missionary!! woot woot!! hahaha

Friday: Got my blood taken at the doctor and guess what. NO TEARS! I’m such a big girl it’s not even funny. Then we got home from Kispest and decided we want to move. The apartment here is…less than okay. The water smells like rotten eggs, we can’t drink it, there are huge cockroaches, it smells like something died, it’s really, really far away from everything…so I think its time for a change. We get to look into that this week which is really exciting 🙂

Saturday: I got to meet Laci and Erika, two investigators here. They are pretty great! It’s so cool for me to be teaching the same people my BFF Sister Gertsch taught. They were showing me so many pictures of her and telling me how much they love her and it was making me so happy!

Sunday: Going to church in a new branch is kind of horrifying. Especially in a big branch like Szeged! There’s like 50 people here on Sundays which is more than double what I am used to. It’s kind of scary to have to introduce yourself in Hungarian in front of everyone, but I made it out alive. There are a ton of YSA here that speak English too so that’s really cute and fun.

Randoms:

So they have the craziest thing here. It’s a watermelon, but you cut it open…and its YELLOW!! What the exciting!! Right? It tastes the same but actually maybe it tastes better because its yellow. I’m obsessed haha!DSCN3062

So Sister Gertsch left a bunch of her stuff in the apartment and I got to steal some of her clothes and stuff. That’s exciting. And she left some perfume and I sprayed it on and teared up a little because it just smelled like the MTC. So many good memories of that place. I would go back in a heartbeat.

Szeged is a zone leader city which is cool! And one of the elders here is Elder Haws, an elder I served with in my first transfer! So that’s really fun 🙂

I was thinking about an email I sent home a free weeks ago, where I was talking about how we should never take a second for granted. I should really take my own advice sometimes! It was really hard for me to leave Kaposvár, feeling like I didn’t get the most I could have out of every moment there. Planning on working on that here in Szeged. Hopefully I have a little more time here 🙂

Well that’s about it for this week. I hope you all have a great last little bit of summer time! Enjoy it 🙂

Sok szeretettel,

Mason Nővér
